Hello Students and Families, We would like to draw your attention once again to a "game" that is occurring within our local communities, as well as throughout the nation, that has a number of concerns connected to it. Called "senior assassins" or simply "assassins", it involves senior students playing a game of water-tag across the entire community. Playing in pairs or teams, students are hunting their peers as "targets", including hiding out in bushes and surprising students as they leave their homes, jobs, or gyms. Some of our concerns with this: water guns in schools can lead to a number of negative outcomes...spraying the wrong students leading to a confrontation, hitting a teacher and potentially facing discipline, or getting water on a floor and creating a slippery surface that may cause injury to others. Additionally, in the community, we just want to share some thoughts from a different perspective; at least three times in the last week we have been notified by parents or community members that issues have arisen due to students playing this game. In an extreme but concerning example, one of our campuses was even visited by students from a school over an hour away who were “hunting” their peers at an athletic event we were hosting. Please note that this is not acceptable ANYWHERE on or around any GEHR grounds. Imitation weapons on school campuses pose severe security risks to all of us! Imitation weapons may seem harmless, but can cause panic and confusion among students, staff, and community members and can potentially lead to a dangerous situation. We recognize the idea behind this may be pure and just "kids looking for fun", but we want everyone to understand it will not be permitted on school grounds, and despite how some are portraying this, it is not condoned by the school or district. Please help us maintain a safe and secure learning environment. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact us. Thank you, Mike McGhee, Oakcrest Principal Daniel Kern, Absegami Principal Scott Parker, Cedar Creek Principal James M Reina, Superintendent
This afternoon at approximately 12:45 p.m., a small grease fire occurred on a cooktop in one of our culinary classrooms. Staff responded out of an abundance of caution by activating the school fire alarm, leading to the evacuation of all staff and students. The fire was extinguished by staff, and Hamilton Township Fire Department responded to clear the alarm. All students and staff have returned to the building at this time, and the school has returned to normal operations. Michael C. McGhee Principal - Oakcrest High School 609-909-2600 ext. 2675

Yesterday, health and media students from Oakcrest HS traveled to the Hess School to share with 5th grade students a message about the importance of roadway and pedestrian safety. Their visit was part of an annual campaign during which Oakcrest students raise awareness in their school and community of the dangers of distracted driving.
